At Pick-It Construction, our motto is "you pick-it….we'll build it!"
There is not a lot we won't or haven't done. In the main office, we strive to be the best at what we do, and this is passed on to each and every one of our crews. We are very fortunate to have competent, professional individuals in the work field that are not afraid to travel to the ten states (and counting) that we have covered in the commercial industry. It is this drive, effort, and ambition that keep our quality, timeliness, and price in balance. While we are on your job, no other jobs matter until yours is complete and you are happy.
My name is Rob Turner and I am the inventor, President of Turner Light Covers.
I have been remodeling and building homes for the last 20 years as it is a hobby that I dearly love! After installing some recessed lighting fixtures (can lights) on a remodeling job I returned to replace some burned-out bulbs. The ceilings were 13 feet so the homeowner asked for my assistance. After climbing to the point my feet were approximately 5 feet from the ground I began unscrewing the bulb. Unbeknownst to me there was a large nest of red wasps inside which of course were immediately angry and began attacking me relentlessly! By the way, if youve never experienced the stinging anger of a red wasp let me just tell you it is the most painful, white-hot, insect attack you will ever experience! It was so painful, and startled me so much I jumped from the ladder without thinking! Just in case you are unaware, jumping from a ladder is not a good move as it is very unstable and when you try to jump it just falls away from you and you hit the floor like a sack of potatoes! So the end result was I hit the floor in an uncontrolled fall and damaged my knee forcing me to have surgery to repair.
During my recovery from surgery I had plenty of time to contemplate what had happened to me. I began looking for a way to prevent this from ever happening again and found there was absolutely no product on the market to prevent stinging, biting pests from nesting in recessed light fixtures! So this gave me the idea to try and create something as a preventive measure so no one else would experience the horror I had. After three years of trial and error I now have a patented (granted in November 2012) recessed can light cover, made from virtually indestructible ABS plastic with a polycarbonate screen, that is easily installed with three screws and locked into place with a little twist. As an added bonus it will never rust, so it will be great for the coastal regions where salt air is an issue!
Im proud to say our manufacturing facility and our headquarters are right here in Northwest Arkansas as we refuse to outsource overseas!
